Liked this little heater and it worked great for a couple of years. Turned on quickly, pumped out heat. Thermostat worked as did the welcome tip sensor. All good. But now no air comes out as the screens inside are clogged with dust. "simple", i thought, "I'll just clean out the filters."... but there is no way to do so. Can't open the unit as it uses deeply-recessed, tamper-proof triangle head screws. Blasted air, vaccuumed, but no good. To the trash it goes! What a waste... but I did get two years of service out of the little unit. I'll be sure to check for filter cleaning ability from now on.

Like many office settings, my employer does not allow most personal heaters for safety reasons. However, this ceramic heater, which does not have a heat coil, was permissible, and having it has been a Godsend on those chilly fall days before the building heat is turned on. As you can see from the picture, this is an attractive, streamlined little heater. The controls are located in a little panel that pops up off the top of the heater: there is an "On" button with a high-low setting, and a separate thermostat setting allows you to adjust the amount of heat to exactly suit your needs. I've found this heater to be perfect for my office, but it would also work great for heating a small bedroom, den, or other room in your home. Highly recommended!

I bought three of these for about $29 each (not thru Amazon). I wanted to use them in my garage in the winter as it get a bit chilly in there. I figured I only needed 2 for the task but bought a third becuase of the good price and 'just in case'...

Well, the first one died in less than a week and another died in less than a month...nothing happend to cause these issues...I just set them for 70 degrees and one day I went to turn them on and they were dead. My guess is the fuse 'safety' or heat sensor technology on these is garbage and just blows for no good reason. There does not seem to be any way to replace the fuse so they are pretty much door stops now.

Any product can have the odd lemon, but two out of three for a single customer that use them for about an hour or two at a time is pretty awful.

I would avoid these like the plague and I am not inclined to ever buy a Honeywell product in the future.

"The Filter is Great. Better to get filter replacements, not new humidifiers all the time" 2010-01-10

It drives me crazy that stores sell humidifiers but usually not filter replacements. Do they think we're going to buy a new humidifier every time we need a new filter? I like being able to buy whatever filter I need at Amazon.

These filters are heavier duty than ones I previously used in other humdifiers. This is my second winter using the current humidifiers. I bought 4 of the same model all at once just so that I would only have to get one type of filter. This turned out to be a good idea and my home has decent humidity in winter.

In this purchase, I got ten filters and they arrived all at once, each in its own box. Since these are great filters, I think they are worth the price.

The main thing is if you have a humidifier requiring filters to get a good supply and be able to change them as needed. I think these filters would cost more in a store since the stores want to sell a new humidifier rather than keep you supplied with filter for the humdifiers that they have sold in the past couple of years.

Remember to keep the blue side facing out! (I made that mistake once.)

This is our second season with our Honeywell humidifier; purchased from that big box store that starts with a C & ends in O, the unit came with enough filters to last the first season. Needing some now for this winter I found the replacement filters in other outlets, but at a price higher than Amazon.

The filters are a perfect replacement,and did break the bank either. We'll be back next year for more!

I'm on my third Honeywell humidifier of this type, so based on the favorable reviews, I bought these air washing filters hoping they would perform better than the regular ones. I can't say I've noticed a big difference in performance and they have to be replaced just as often.

This heater seems to be a good choice to take a "chill" out of a room, rather than totally depending on it solely to heat up a large space. I worked on my car a number of times in the winter, and depended on this heater to keep me from freezing...given that my garage was 400 square feet and uninsulated...this heater did surprisingly well enough to get through my winter car repair projects...I had this heater cranked up to the max to get by...while the outside temp was in the mid 20s to 30 deg. Again, to recap...this heater is a decent performer as long as you do not expect it to be your only source of heat, especially for a larger space.

I had a little mini Space heater that cost less then $20 but I had to get rid of it. Well now I am in a basement and I needed something that was bigger, so I picked this thing up at walmart. It doesn't heat up anything, in order for you to feel any heat you have to be within a foot of it. I don't know what they were thinking when they made this but my small heater worked better then this thing. The only good thing I can say about this item is that it looks stylish (I have a chrome and black version) and it has a nice LED display but it still gets 1 star because I didn't pay $50 to stare at something that doesn't do anything, if I wanted that I would of bought some art.

Returning this and try to go for a oil filed heater.

I just bought this and had it on all night and my room is still freezing. You have to put your hand right next to it to feel any heat. If you stand a foot away you can't feel anything. Plus, it's kind of noisy. The only good thing is that it seems to be pretty sturdy and it looks nice. I also like the tower because it disperses the heat about a foot and a half off the ground, unlike some of the other models.

I bought my heater a year ago, and it works well, when it turns on. The digital settings are extremely fussy. It turns off repeatedly regardless of the timer or thermostat. Now the fan turns on and off repeatedly, and the heater will only stay on for 5 minutes. I think it's finally broken.

If you do buy this (which you shouldn't), keep your receipts and proof of purchase for the warranty.

This is a compact and relatively quiet heater. Does a good job as long as your expect it to do its basic job.

If you try using its other features on a regular basis ( oscillation or temperature control ), you may be dissapointed.

I bought 2 of these from Amazon on a BF sale and have used them regularly for the last month and a half.

Both of them have stopped oscillating and make a creaking noise while on the oscillation mode. The temperature guage is also incorrect on both of them and cannot be trusted.

I just recieved the unit and so far it works perfectly and is attractive. Unlike the other reviewer, the temperature function is working accurately. The reason for 4 stars vs. 5,is that there is no remote (really one is not needed, but it seems everything comes w/ one nowadays)and when on auto temp, it does cycle on and off so frequently that I decided to leave it on continous heat. It is fairly quiet and puts out effective heat even on the low setting. I'm pleased particularly since I purchased it on a Friday sale for about $20 less than Amazon's competitors and free UPS which only took a few days. If things change, I'll add an adddendum. On 12/07, the oscillation became stuck and the thermostat is no longer accurate. I requested a replacement but if the second one fails within a few days use, I will get a refund. I'm happy to report I've been using the replacement unit for a week now and it works perfectly! Don't forget it has a 3 NOT 1 year warranty.

Everything about this heater is perfect except that it is a little loud. The thermostat is very accurate and keeps the room at an even temperature. It heats faster than most other heaters even when using the energy efficient setting. The blue light is a little bit much at night but is not as bright as some have said in other reviews. Except for the fact that it is a little bit too loud, I could not find a better heater. The sound it makes is comparable to the sound of a fan on medium. If I was running the heater constantly, I would adjust to the sound. But since I use it in a manner in which it turns on and off according to the thermostat, it wakes me when it turns on even though I placed it on the other side of the room. I think I may need to return it and will wind up using a much less efficient heater simply because of the noise factor. If Honeywell updates this model and resolves the noise issue, I would not hesitate to buy it again. But if you are buying it to use in the bedroom, you might want to rethink your decision.

I was trying to cut my use of propane as it is very expensive. I am now relying on a wood burning insert and this little heater. It works great and keeps the temperature where I set it. It takes up the gap between the fireplace and what I want the inside temperature to be. I do have a small house, so this works for me. I would reccomend this highly.

I have used a patton space heater Patton 1500W Utility Heater PUH682and the honeywell is super quiet in comparison.

The thermostat is temperature adjustable and it has the oscillate function. As I have already mentioned, the heater is not noisy and thus the 4star rating. Forget the other heaters, this one is pretty much the best.

"Beware Honeywell/Kax Heater nearly burned down my House" 2009-12-29

I purchase 2 units just like this. (not from this seller)

The thermostat stopped working on both of them in about the same time period @1 month. They in turn overheated and nearly caused an electrical fire, thank goodness my wife was home to see what was happening.

I called HoneyWell/Kaz (the real company name is KAZ Inc I found out, but they kept the Honeywell name for obvious reasons). They were extremely defensive and told me to send the heaters back for refund and that they would conduct a FULL-Analysis and get back to me. When I called back later they could hardly remember me or the problem and I was shuffled me into Voice-mail, I must have called 7 times. I then called the Fed Trade Commission to issue a consumer warning against this product, they immediately sent someone over to review the damage and file a report.

The FTC called Honeywell/Kaz and demanded the defective heaters be sent to them, but lucky for Kaz (I sarcastically write) they had disposed of them and would not produce any such defective products. The FTC said big companies often try to get the product back so that no formal un-biased review can be performed on the product, I will be happy to provide names of individuals both at Honeywell/Kaz and the FTC, so you may corroberate these claims.

Beware these things are dangerous in my Experience, (2 of them!).

I've owned this space heater for almost 3 years and it works EXCELLENT.

The safety feature shuts off to prevent overheating of the ceramic heater - so depending on the ambient temperature and your setting and desires very hot in short bursts or steady heat in long continual stream - you stimply need to optimize the setting. It's not that difficult. Yes it's only manual dial's but I've used this in my 12x14 office for 3 winters and going on the 4th with flawless operation. For continuous operation simply set on lower of two settings and thermo dial about 1/4" down from max. If it's drawing in cooler air it will run constantly.

I am completely happy - however it IS fan driven so the fan is noisy. But it can easily keep a 14x14 room warm and toasty (with the door closed).

Yup, my experience is the same as everyone else. But, as an electrical engineer, I can't help but make my own modifications... It's got a great heating element, and the fan appears to be good quality. But, the thermostat is not designed with enough hysteresis to be useful - and it's positioned inside the outer chassis, and outside the inner heat tunnel. The thermostat is triggered off by heat from the unit itself, not by the ambient room temperature (which would be more ideal for regulating the temperature of a room). Without hysteresis, the slightest change in the temperature of the bi-metal armature trips the unit off immediately after the contacts become cool enough to close... which energizes the heating element... which warms the armature slightly, opening the contacts and turning the heater off again... you get the picture. It's also possible that some amount of I^2*R losses contribute to self-heating of the thermostat when the contacts close, which would further increase positive feedback, decreasing the time the contacts stay closed when the armature is near the trip temperature. I think a little bi-stable hysteresis in the thermostat armature would go a long way to solve the majority of the thermal regulation problems w/ this design. So, until I can install a better thermostat, I've bypassed it completely. "Don't try this at home. I'm what they call a 'professional.'" "...I have years of experience to keep me safe."

Right away I was disappointed with the amount of noise the fan generated on this heater. It would randomly transition from a smooth fan noise to a loud griding sound. Also, the digital controls would sometimes shut the heater down and would not allow the heater to be turned back on unless unpluged. I am assuming this is some safety feature that was shutting the unit down unnecessarily. Eventually the heater completely died on me after only 6 months.

I have always had mushroom brushes but as I began to include more fresh vegetable in my diet I started looking for a good, all purpose vegetable brush. That was several years ago and since then I've collected several. The thing that I like about the Oxo is that it is easy to hold onto even though I have large hands.

My only complaint is that it is a little soft for giving potatoes that thorough scrub that they need. It works but I prefer a brush with stiffer bristles (which I have so no big deal). I've owned this for close to a year and it looks like new. I have no doubt that it will hold up well through the years.

This was the perfect phone for what I was looking for. I needed the four phones with answering machine. The only thing I do not like is that the answering machine doesn't show the # of messages, only blinks. Normally not a problem but if you listen to the message and then do not erase, my old machine would show the # of messages...so if I came home and my husband listens to the machine and the light goes off, I will know that there are saved messages...

I also wish that if you save a number in one phone that it would save to all, but you have to copy them manually...

Otherwise, sound and ease is good. I like the large keys. Silver color is nice looking.

"Just a few clarifications" 2009-12-03

I just wanted to add to the plethora of reviews out there on this product and those very similar to it, e.g., 2 handsets, 3 handsets, etc.

I found this through ConsumerSearch.com's reviews and then examined the reviews here on Amazon. Their analysis is top notch, but there were a few things I was worried about scouring through reviews:

1. I read on one of the reviews that the recharge light when handsets were at their base were really bright, but this is not the case. It can easily charge at night next to your bed without it bothering you.

2. I was worried about answer machine's cons, namely that it only blinks when there are new messages, and not stay on when there are still messages on the machine. This is a little annoying, so you will have to check messages and remind family members that they have messages, otherwise, they might miss something important. It also doesn't show the number of messages still recorded unless you look at the the messages via the handsets. This is a minor issue, but something to note if you share your phone with a lot of people.

3. Battery life. There were several complaints about batteries running out very soon after receiving the phone set. I attribute this mainly to poor user knowledge, stupid technology, and small batteries. Firstly, most people are still somehow used to their old corded phones so they like to put their wireless handsets back on the charger all the time. This reduces battery life, so you should always charge when the battery is low. The phone actually tells you when to do it, but I'd expect people to be worried when it's on 1 of 3 bars for a while; no one wants to be on an important call and run out of batteries. With the sophistication of technology nowadays, I really don't understand why the chargers just can't be smarter and not charge unless the batteries are low. This would offset the lack of user knowledge. Lastly, what I think the MAIN issue is, is that the batteries are 2 AAA NiMH batteries. When I bought this phone, it was because my old Panasonic phone's Lithium batteries died out (after like 10 years of use). Changing those batteries would have been more expensive than getting a new phone, and I figure since technology should've improved a lot in 10 years, I'd get a new one. Turns out battery technology is around the same, and since these are AAAs, they don't hold as much as even AAs. This is probably because the market for home phone sets is so low now because most people just use mobile phones. I think I should be able to change to the Low Self-Discharge ("LSD") "Hybrid" batteries like Sanyo's Eneloop, but have yet to try it. Sanyo Eneloop AAA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries (4 Pack) And I'm not sure if the phone will be able to charge them by itself or I'd have to swap out. It still might be worth it if the batteries last long enough and people don't forget to NOT put it on the charger (in the case if the charger isn't compatible with the LSD batteries).

Ultimately, still a good phone, and hopefully I can swap in other/new batteries in the handsets so that I don't have to constantly check for remaining battery life and worry about long important calls with low batteries.

The thermostat quit working on one of our upstairs electric baseboard heaters and I discovered that you can't just buy a regular low voltage wall replacement furnace thermostat. 220 volts goes through this thing so you have to be careful to turn off the circuit breaker to it and replace it with a good quality thermostat that is meant for this type of heater. This one is good quality and a bargain price here. It works great and has a built in thermometer that shows you the current room temperature. It is only used for a reference, not a "set point". But it is nice to have since the original one didn't have one.

Within the 1st couple of hours of use, the oscillator motor went out or only worked sporadically. For the heater, there is a temperature dial that you turn for it to kick on, and then after heating for a moment it shuts off - apparently believing it has "heated the area" sufficiently now, however it really has not! The heater fan is very weak and perhaps only heats 1-2 square feet around it. I was always upset that it seemed to auto shutdown on the heater so soon. That lasted a little while, and now the heater will not even turn on reliably, even in a cold room (50-60 F). I've owned it for less than a year and sent a note to Honeywell requesting an RMA, we'll see what happens.

It's just full of faulty parts apparently, and I'm surprised the fan still works! I don't know how the heat dial works or that it determines to shut down (temp sensor, timer, etc) but I think they should make it work like the fan... just always on and the dial just adjusts how hot the heat coils get. The "running for 2 minutes, then off, then a click, then _maybe_ turning back on again" sounds like it.

I live at 9500 ft elevation, so it gets quite cold in my room at night for the majority of the year. This heater helps heat the room for about 5 minutes before it shuts itself off and never turns back on.

Quite frustrating to wake up night after night and have the temperature in my room at 55 degrees.

If you need a product to ACTUALLY heat, don't buy this one. The fan works great, but I could have bought a $10 fan to do that job.

I seemed pretty impressed with this product when I saw it in the store. Great price, nice design- I liked the way they marketed it as a heater and a fan so it would work for all seasons. It finally stopped altogether, and I wasn't going to bother to "restart." The thermostat must be the problem with this unit; and that's sure too bad. I went back to the store to purchase a Vornado unit [assembled in USA!] for a little more $. Quiet as can be; warm close up, but it feels like it creates a draft in the room due to the air intake that supposedly forces the warm air throughout the room. This unit serves as a heater+fan or as a fan only, so it should be versatile. I guess I just haven't found what I'm looking for. My family purchased a couple of the original ceramic heaters when they were new on the market, complete with the heavy metal casing; they were superb in our basement - AND still work flawlessly after 15 years! These plastic cased imposters just don't cut the mustard!

I bought this heater to go under my desk at work. While the turn knob is simple and is suppose to allow various settings, I have not had the experience of enjoying any settings. The heater shuts off within a minute. It doesn't matter what temperature I set it at. It will not go back on unless I unplug the heater and let it sit for 5 min. Bought this unit last week to put next to my desk at work, but I haven't been completely happy with it.

The heater turns on and heats up instantly, but it is more like an open oven door than a space heater. The heat is there, but the fan in the unit doesn't have much blowing power... so you end up with heat for 1 or 2 feet in front of the unit but not 4 or 5 feet in front of the unit. I had it under my desk today and couldn't figure out where the heat was going... it sure wasn't circulating around anywhere.

The unit does put off a lot of heat... unfortunately I couldn't find a happy medium between cooked ankles and cold ankles.

I like the simple temp knob on top, but I end up leaning over to turn it up and down all day as I get cold and hot.

If I were shopping again I would get a unit with more than one level of heat, more than one fan speed, and an on/off switch so I don't have to unplug it every day.

I purchased this heater a little over 2 weeks ago and I use it almost every day. I really like it because it was a good price, it came in the mail quickly, it doesn't take up a lot of space, and it does a good job. Some people may consider it noisy but you will definitely hear a constant fan sound. I don't mind it because I've had heaters like this in the past. I get used to it and tune it out. I just wish it had a timer! That would make it a 4.5. No noise would be 5 but again the noise does not bother me.

I bought this item for work. A few moments after plugging it in, the fuse running all the computers blew. We all sat for at least a half hour, not working, because I wanted to be a bit warmer and foolishly bought this product. In addition, it is very loud and distracting. Now, that I would like to return it, I can't because I didn't try the product right away and the 30 days has expired. I can get a "partial refund" if I pay postage. But there is no way to tell exactly how much this "partial refund" is. Perhaps it's less then the the cost of the postage to return the crummy heater.

I've been taken. Don't let that happen to you too.

This is a decent heater for a cubicle desk or a tiny bedroom, but don't assume it will work well for any space bigger than that. Seems to use a lot of electricity compared to the heat it puts out. Would be an OK buy if you can find it on sale for less than half the retail price.

After several disasters with space heaters dying on me with only a limited amount of use, I decided to buy this little heater at Best Buy last year with an extended warranty. I have used it off and on for several months and now that it is getting colder again this heater is getting a workout. It is mostly used in the bathroom but I have also used it in my bedroom several times recently, which is pretty large and does get very chilly and it does a great job.

It does shut off automatically when the temperature reaches the desired setting. The casing stays really cool which is far different than the radiator heaters that I am currently trying, they get HOT to the touch. It is very light weight and for light sleepers it runs very quiet except for the light click it makes when it shuts off or comes back on adjusting to the temp change. I would say the only cons for this little heater is that there is no safety shut off if it gets knocked over and the temperature setting is a bit of a guessing game since there is no actual numbers (65 70 75 etc.) to go by. This is reasonably easy to figure out though. Overall, as of this post, I would purchase another one of these little heaters in a heartbeat.

The Honeywell HZ2300 is not a blowtorch but it heats a 20 x 20 room easily enough. And it's "rushing air" quiet. Great as white noise for sleeping. Sometimes the oscillating function creaks quietly like a rocking chair. But I almost never use that.

Here are the flaws: 1) the unit is not meant to be disassembled for cleaning (I contacted Honeywell) so after a year or two with dust build-up, it smells for awhile when the heater is on and the fan blades lose their efficiency; 2) the off/on/heat switch is child proof so it's difficult to use and will eventually strip out.

While I admit that I have no children and understand that we live in a lawsuit-crazy world, I think that the child proof switch is silly and redundant. The HZ2300 already shuts off after a few minutes if the heat is set at high. If it's tipped over, it shuts off immediately. If a kid tries to sit on the unit while it's oscillating, chances are good that it'll tip over anyway and shut off. If the kid throws it in the tub or toilet, they're going to get electrocuted whether it's on or off. And frankly, at that point the parents really ought to be watching their kids closer.

Since the unit is not meant to be disassembled for cleaning or repair, I assume that Honeywell designed it to be disposable. To my mind, that's just wrong. We dispose of too many things in our modern world. Simple electric items like heater-fans ought to be used and repaired and cleaned repeatedly.

So, I located a small appliance repair shop nearby. Their guys extracted the oddball-head screws that hold the unit together, cleaned the insides and fan blades, removed the spring from the child proof switch and glued it to work like a real switch ought to -- then reassembled the unit using standard screws.

Now I can use the switch without having to reef down on it while turning it, and I can disassemble the unit in a moment myself and clean it. Though I've no doubt cruelly and horribly voided the terms of Honeywell's warranty, I now have a heater-fan that is fantastic. Tops. And I have the local small appliance repair shop to thank and not Honeywell.

Erratic cheap thermostat. Sparks & flashes all the time. Should be in the air intake flow, isolated from the heat - it isn't - so it is impossible to set a constant temp & its variable is massive. Also very noisy - definitely not for a quiet room or sleeping at night. Just another cheap junk heater. Probably for $2 more (their cost) they could have made a real jewel out of this. Another million dollar American idea executed by .10 cent Oriental engineering.

"does not seem to warm a small room well" 2009-01-06

I just got this unit for a small play room in my basement. The temp in the basement is around 60F in the winter time. I set the unit for 68F and in over an hour, the room is still around 60F. You do feel the heat if you are in front of it but it certainly does not heat up a whole room. On a more positive note, there is no loud beeps when a button is pushed.

Heater warm quickly. Oscillating feature is very good. The timer turns off the heater within a few minutes of the setting. Actual temperature setting is not real accurate but you learn to adjust to it. I don't like having to reset temperature each time unit is turned on, however, overall, this is a very good heater for small rooms.

The Honeywell heater arrived packed within its own box within an Amazon box and was well protected. Getting started was as easy as plugging it in. All the features have little icons on the heater but you may need to review the instructions once to understand the icons. Pluses: the heater begins to warm immediately. Even the low power setting seems to generate heat for a small room. The oscillating feature is virtually soundless. The timer turns off the heater within a few minutes of the setting. Minuses: While the temperature display is very easy to read, the actual temperature setting is like a toy. The heater does cycle off close to a setting but the displayed temperature is not very accurate. Also the temperature resets to 75 when the unit is turned off so your desired temperature must be reset every time the unit is turned on. Also, every button that is pressed creates an annoying "beep" that I cannot seem to turn off or decrease. Overall, this is a good basic heater suitable for smaller rooms.
